There seems to be lots of interest in what is known as the Vegas Roach Trap. There have been suggestions for alternatives, most of them nonsense, for instance, just using sugar water instead of wet coffee grounds. The wet coffee grounds method is still the most effective "natural" method.
However, I improved the cleanliness of the Vegas Roach Trap:
(1) Use the same 6 inch tall pickle or jelly jar
(2) fill jar with less than an inch of water
(3) half fill used wet coffee grounds into a small plastic wine glass (with removable base)
(4) tilt jar and, with two fingers, slide base-less wine glass into jar
(5) go outside and tilt jar against stucco wall (wedge a rock underneath for stability)
- ensure that the inserted plastic wine glass tilts away from the wall
Using this method, roaches never actually touch the coffee grounds and simply drown at the bottom of the jar. No mess, no cleaning. When you get enough drowned roaches in the jar, simply remove the inserted wine glass and dump the water with dead roaches into the toilet. Sprinkle a few more drops of water on the wine glass coffee grounds, insert wine glass in jar, add a little water to the jar, and replace it against your outside wall.
You can substitute a short glass tumbler for the cheap plastic wine glass but it is slightly more difficult to keep it tilted right inside the jar.

Very interesting invention.
I haven't noticed any roaches around my place but think I'll make a trap and see what I get.
I would think you would use the roach enriched water to water outdoor plants.
Is there a reason that I am not aware of that they need to be flushed?

No, instead of flushing, dumping the water on outdoor plants is probably a good idea. The only downside that I can see is potentially providing another meal for other roaches, so the farther away from your house the outdoor plants are, the better.

I personally would not want a bunch of dead roaches anywhere near my house,
I am all for recycling but I would rather just dispose of them all.
Great Idea though!
